Health & Safety Update

Ballyvaloo Retreat & Conference Centre is delighted to announce that we intend to re-open on Monday July 20th 2020. The Sisters and Staff of Ballyvaloo, are dedicated to making your stay with us a safe and fruitful one. We are conscious of and take seriously the threat of Covid-19 and the safety of our staff and our guests will be our primary concern. With this in mind we have amended our practices to ensure the safety of all staff and visitors in line with the protocol outlined in the “Return to Work Safely Protocol” outlined by the Government which has been developed in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland and supported by advice from the HSA, HSE, FSAI, World Health Organisation and other relevant bodies. We will closely monitor and update our practices and procedures and we will amend them as advised.


Ballyvaloo has appointed a trained COVID Manager and Lead Employee to oversee the procedures for reopening, implement these procedures and to adapt/amend these procedures in line with Government protocols.

All Sisters and staff are trained to adhere to COVID protocols.

All Sisters and staff have engaged in mandatory health, safety and hygiene training, inclusive of how to correctly dispose of their PPE.

Before Arriving

All guests are pre-screened before arrival for contact with or symptoms of COVID-19.

On Arriving

Guests, Sisters and staff will have their temperature checked daily.

Social Distancing

Guests at Ballyvaloo will be advised to social distance themselves from other guests. This will apply to moving around the Centre and standing in queues.


There will be health, safety and hygiene reminders throughout the Centre along with appropriate markings for queueing.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

All employees will be provided with the relevant PPE which must be worn in accordance with their job role and responsibilities.

Cleaning Procedures

We use high grade disinfectant cleaning products throughout the Centre to ensure we meet the expected practices of the World Health Organisation, the Health Service Executive and Government. Employees using these products are supplied with the appropriate PPE and training. All public areas and common touch points in public areas are sanitised daily utilising a fogging machine.

Handwashing and Sanitising

Hand sanitiser dispensers will be placed at all guest and staff entrances. There will be additional sanitisers at key locations throughout the Centre. All employees will wash their hands at regular intervals with antibacterial soap, for the recommended 20 seconds and will use antibacterial cleaning products when using shared equipment.


In order to comply with relevant Government guidelines, we will use both the dining room and coffee room for breakfast, lunch and supper. Queueing will be necessary to adhere to Social Distancing Measures.
